Bishops,
We have tried to send the email below to members of our stake, but so far unsuccessfully.
We’re having problems with the Church’s broadcast email service. So if you didn’t receive the email yourself already, will you please send it to your ward members however you typically communicate to them?
We apologize for the late notification on this and we hope it doesn’t conflict with too many scheduled events.
With the JustServe and "I Was a Stranger” initiatives, we’ve all noticed the Church is giving more and more encouragement to members becoming involved in community service.
Will you please give this some added attention in your ward?
You may want to…
…ask ward council members to initiate a more organized effort within the ward in support of the April 16 service opportunities, making phone calls and encouraging members to participate.
...announce this over the pulpit on April 10.
…print something in your sacrament meeting bulletin.
...make sure all missionaries are aware and involved.
Thank you for helping to raise the awareness and participation in community service, which is becoming an integral part of our missionary efforts.
Gratefully,
President Lewis
Dear Mount Hood Stake members,
Thank you for reaching out into our communities through service.
We hope the JustServe website https://www.justserve.org/ continues to be helpful in identifying community service opportunities for organizations, families and individuals in our stake.
The Lord is pleased as we seek opportunities to help those in our neighborhoods and communities. This is validated by the Church’s new initiative “I Was a Stranger." See https://www.lds.org/refugees?cid=HP_SA_26-3-2016_dPFD_fCNWS_xLIDyL2-1_&lang=eng for details.
We encourage all members to participate, if possible, in one of two community projects happening on Saturday, April 16. Details are listed below.
Gratefully,
The Stake Presidency
